Arabtec Group’s commitment to sustainability stems from a firm resolve to conduct business operations responsibly and create shared value for all stakeholders.

Peter Pollard,
GCEO, Arabtec Holding

At Arabtec, sustainability is creating value to all stakeholders through responsible and efficient operations, employee safety and wellbeing, as well as mindfulness of the environment and the communities it develops. This is achieved by systematically managing the company’s strategic responsibilities and strategic foundations as Arabtec works Towards Responsible Construction.

Arabtec has successfully released it first sustainability report, presenting the Group’s sustainability aspirations and approach and covering the 2017 economic, social and environmental performance of the Group’s three main operating companies; Arabtec Construction, Target Engineering Construction Company, and Emirates Falcon Electromechanical Company (EFECO). These three companies combined account for 95% of Arabtec Group’s operating revenue.

The data provided in the report covers Arabtec’s operations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region where available, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan and Kuwait amongst others. There is an additional focus on the UAE operations, as these comprise 80% of Arabtec’s operations in terms of backlog.

This report has been prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards: Core Option. The GRI Standards are the first global standards for sustainability reporting. They feature a modular, interrelated structure, and represent the global best practice for reporting on a range of economic, environmental and social impacts. Arabtec has aligned its disclosures in this report to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), as captured in Appendix [1]: GRI Standards Content Index. The UNGC is an initiative to encourage businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation.

Arabtec has also aligned its impact on communities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as explained in the ‘Community Wellbeing’ chapter on page 91 of this report. The SDGs, also known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

Arabtec is committed to continuously improve its sustainability performance and reporting practices, collaboratively with its stakeholders. Arabtec welcomes your comments and suggestions on the report content and approach, please email us on:
